Description

Step aboard ODYSSEY, a distinguished 1976 Auxiliary Sailing Ketch designed by the renowned Charles Davies and Robert Perry, and expertly constructed by Islander Yachts, USA. Crafted for coastal recreation, ODYSSEY blends classic nautical elegance with enduring construction and thoughtful design, making her a rare offering for the discerning yachtsman.

Hull & Deck

ODYSSEY’s 41.2-foot hull, finished in gleaming white with a striking blue stripe and matching antifouling paint, is molded fiberglass with a full integral keel and internal ballast—testament to her robust build. Her hull presents in exceptional condition, with no evidence of blistering or impact damage below the waterline; thorough sounding found no delamination. The deck is equally impressive, featuring a tubular-framed bowsprit with a wood platform and anchor control system, stainless bow and aft pulpits, lifelines, port and starboard boarding gates, and a swim/boarding ladder. Solar panels, an outboard motor mount, and dinghy davits add modern practicality, while a center cockpit with pedestal/wheel steering and a hard dodger ensure comfort and command at sea. Abundant deck cleats and well-considered hardware speak to her readiness for extended cruising.

Interior

Step below to a warm, inviting interior finished in teak with teak and plywood floors, all in good condition. The forward V-berth offers generous storage, adjacent to a head with a marine toilet and stainless sink. The salon features a port settee and starboard dinette, ideal for relaxing or entertaining. The galley is well-equipped with double stainless sinks, a Dickinson diesel stove/heater, chest refrigeration, ample storage, and generous work surfaces. Aft, the master cabin provides a double berth, abundant storage, and a private head with stainless sink and marine toilet. Two companionways enhance accessibility, and the engine is conveniently located below the sailing cockpit.

Systems & Comfort

ODYSSEY is fitted with a 12-volt freshwater pump, a 120-volt hot-water heater, and an engine heat exchanger hot-water system. Opening ports and deck hatches ensure excellent ventilation throughout. Navigation and communication systems are comprehensive: Standard Horizon Matrix VHF with AIS/GPS, Furuno SSB/Ham, Raymarine GPS/chartplotter/radar/depth, Ritchie gimbal-mount compass, Raymarine autopilot, wind speed and direction instrumentation, and a ship’s clock and barometer. Steering is via pedestal/wheel with hydraulic drive to the rudder shaft, reported in good condition, and emergency steering is available.

Ground Tackle & Tenders

Her ground tackle is robust, including a Lofrans Tigre 12-volt horizontal windlass with foredeck controls, a 65 lb Bruce primary anchor with a reported 300 ft of 3/8 in chain, a 45 lb CQR secondary anchor with 30 ft of 3/8 in chain and a reported 200 ft nylon rode, and a Danforth stern anchor with chain and nylon rode. The tender is a Duras 9.5 ft inflatable dinghy, reported in fair condition, with a Johnson 15 HP outboard. Shore equipment includes four fenders and adequate dock lines.

Summary

ODYSSEY is a vessel of substance and character, thoughtfully outfitted for coastal adventures. Her timeless design, solid construction, and comprehensive inventory make her an exceptional opportunity for those seeking a classic ketch ready for new horizons.
